Say free photography courses, supported by Canon? For the next generation? Yes, for four years now? And it’s been a pleasure to organize them, promote them and take part in cheering for talented teenagers who are thinking of pursuing a photography career.
In 2022, we organized an exhibition to showcase their works at the Museum of Recent Art, in Bucharest, counting 300 visitors, and Mezanin Market – with about 1.200 curious eyes admiring them. We are curious to see how many will be attending this year!

YEAR

2023

Brief

We have been doing communication for the photography industry for a while, having implemented many projects for the industry leader, Canon. However, this project we are introducing you now to is very dear to us, because of the CSR component, which is aligned with The Good Company’s values.

The Canon Youth Program is an international program that has been running since 2015 in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. There are over 5500 children involved in this project, from 25 countries. In Romania we are at the third edition.

The program aims to increase the social impact, by illustrating the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the complementary development of future generations, through the organized intensive photography courses. The initiative is part of the global campaign „Inspiring a World of change”, and serves the communication pillar „For the Future of the People”.

Canon trusted us in delivering the project in Romania, adapting it to the Romanian market and developing a communication plan.

Insight

In Romania, there are many young people passionate about photography, who do know how to handle a camera, but they need guidance. Photography means paying attention to details, and these details can be captured if some techniques are acquired. We needed to find a mentor who could introduce them to the photography world, a good one, a renowned one.

We counted on the strengthened relationship Canon has had with photojournalist Ioana Moldovan along the years. Having held several workshops throughout her career, we thought she was the perfect fit for the project.

The GOOD Solution

We put our event management, corporate communication and social media skills into practice and we saw our work come true.

EVENT MANAGEMENT

The intensive photography workshops took place at the „Grigore Moisil” National College (2023) and NOD Makerspace (2022), for a period of six weeks. We collaborated intensively with NGOs such as Salvați Copiii and World Vision. For the last edition we chose to target high schools. This way, we were closer to even adding photography in the school curriculum, making school more interesting to them. The students had Canon equipment at their disposal, with the help of which they were able to practice their new visual communication skills and solve their assignments from photojournalist Ioana Moldovan, their guide in this foray into the world of photography. During the courses, the students documented, through their photographs, some of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), established by the United Nations.

The result of the 2023 edition could be admired at the Galateca opening, which took place on October 23rd, 2023. The children are also able to showcase their work throughout November, inside ParkLake Shopping Center.
Ioana Moldovan, the youth mentor, supervised the entire creative process and supported the six intensive workshops, which had both a theoretical and a practical component.

PR SERVICES

The communication plan secured us coverage in TVR Cultural, Wall Street, Techzilla, Adevarul.
Also, TV, radio personalities, but also renowned photographers such as: Alexandra Gavrilă, Europa FM, Oana Turcu (TVR) and Monica Hozoc (Digi 24), Alex Grecu, Ionut Macri, Dan Mirica attended the event and talked about it on their social media channels.
